One Beloved Community: What’s It Mean?

Our mentoring groups are named after Martin Luther King’s concept of “The Beloved Community.”

The first component to The Beloved Community is “A Vision of Total Relatedness.” MLK once said, “We are tied together in the single garment of destiny, caught in an inescapable network of mutuality.”

Advent’s 1BC Mentoring Groups try to accomplish this by stressing family in each group. We hope that no matter the family situation of each child, they will find love, brotherhood, and acceptance in our beloved community.

This week, the boys met at Major Cheney Elementary for a soccer scrimmage and discussion. The girls met at the Community Clubhouse, then went to the park for further discussion.
